Flashing Trimmer Bar
Posted by Bill Yow on December 25, 2011 at 1:04 amIs there any way in Sony Vegas 11 to disable the “flashing” of the trimmer bar? I find it impossible to use the tool with this effect. I noticed that the bar stops flashing when a video is being played or when I pause the video but as soon as I move the bar the flashing starts again.
thanks,
BillBill

December 27, 2011 at 3:28 pmWhat is a “trimmer bar”? Have you checked that you have the latest display drivers for your video card? I know of know bar in Vegas that “flashes”. Maybe you could post a screen capture or video of what you are experiencing.

It is the bar in the timeline (track view) area that is attached to the playhead control. It indicates what frame you are currently on. Depending on which area you are in timeline (track view) or playback the bar indicating the current frame flashes.

Oh, that’s the timeline cursor (or CTI Current Timeline Indicator). Yea, it blinks so that you can easily see where it is. You can’t turn this off.

You can indeed disable the blinking cursor, but you must do it at an OS level (which I do anyway because I hate blinking cursors everywhere). In Windows 10 for example, you go to Control Panel > Keyboard > Speed > Cursor blink rate, and set it to “None”. Thank god this works. I just upgraded to Win 10 and was shocked to see the blinking timeline cursor in Vegas, I’d never seen it before and it is soooo distracting.
