Activity Forums Compression Techniques Flash Video

I would like to acknowledge that it is 2006, and compress some broadcast-quality video for web streaming. I think I would like to use Flash since it is so ubiquitous these days.

I edit in Final Cut Pro, so I have access to Apple Compressor.

If I want to go with Flash, which scenario do you think would be the best?

    1) Use Compressor and On2 Flix Exporter

    2) Use On2 Flix Pro

    3) Purchase something along the lines of Sorenson Squeeze 4.5 with Flash.

    4) Forget Flash altogether and go with QT, Windows Media, or something else.

Also, can you recommend a good introductory book for compression techniques for web video?

    Thanks,

    David.

I would go with Episode or Episode Pro with Flash. This will give you your fastest exports and they will look fantastic. On2Flix Pro is a good option too, but slow. Squeeze 4.5 is new and claims to have better support for the On2 codec, but I have not had the time yet to verify this. But I have been VERY happy with Episode’s ability to encode Flash 8.
