Has anyone else experienced flash frames showing up at cut points that don’t show up in your edit in FCP or in a quicktime output from FCP?

I made WMVs from reference QTs using Sorenson Squeeze. I’m sure it must be a problem in my settings that is catching the wrong half of a frame or something at a cut?

You may want to try self contained rather than reference Quicktimes.

Sorry, yes they were self contained. Though I must admit I did not watch them on an NTSC monitor.

However, the flash frames were showing up on the computer monitor.

Did you use forced key frames or the equivalent in your encoding?
Try changing that setting and see if it helps.

You could test encode to another codec to see if the issue is “universal” to the source.

Make sure you source QT is ProRes or other I-Frame codec.

I did indeed have keyframes set to every 10 seconds. I will give your idea a try.
