FLASH AND FCP
Hello. I have searcehd all the forums and cannot find a solution.
I have two .fla files that I need to export into FCP. U have tried everything possible in Flash 8. I have set the Publish settings for Flash 5 (Flash 8 wouldn’t work) and published a QT .mov file. This worked for ONE of the files, but not the other. Well, kind of. I got it to play in QT, but when I imported it into FCP, it would only play 1 second of the 10 seconds in the clip. I tried to export the mov file in QT to a NTSC mov file, but that only exported 1 second of the clip.
The second .fla file I can’t seem to do anything with!
I am to the point that I really just need to pay someone to get the conversion done for me so I can finish this video project (deadline Friday night!). I have spent 2 days on the phone and on the foums trying just about everythign and can’t get this to work, so any help is HUGE!

The best way to do this might be to capture the Flash movie as it plays with a scan converter or one of the screen capture apps out there.

That’s a great idea, especially as FLA files, while they do contain FLASH video, are not strictly speaking FLASH video like SWFs and FLVs, which are much easier to convert. iShowU is a very nice and inexpensive screen capture shareware app that will work perfectly for this situation.

Thank you both for the suggestion. It turns out the file itself is weird and the creator couldn’t even get it exported correctly. I have currently gone old school and videoed it off a full screen loop, but I am def going to look into the above stated software.

Just to let you know raw Flash FLA authoring files wont work anyway… only published SWF files or FLV video files, which in of themselves don’t import directly into the FCP timeline last I checked. SWF files are easier to transcode than FLV files even though FLV files are video files.
Since FCP will need a QuickTime video, you might as well use the screen capture method as mentioned above instead of dealing with transcoding.
