  • Fixing bad makeup in post.

    Hello everyone!

I’ve used this forum often for help, but never posted. Thank you all for your help.

Anyway, I’m not quite sure what forum to post in, but here goes…

I’m editing my student project on FCP X. It was shot with the Red Epic. My last shot involves a jib moving up from a man who has just shot himself.

My problem is that the bullet wound makeup is clearly tacked on with flesh latex. We we’re running out of time on the shoot and my DP said it was easily fixed in post.

Does anyone have any ideas for how to fix this? The clip is ten seconds long AT THE MOST.

    Thanks for all your help!

Without having a look to the picture is impossible to know what is the problem and to suggest a solution.

I suggest the DP fixes it then if it was so easy. Perhaps then they might not use that excuse when they find out how difficult, expensive or impossible such flippant remarks can be for us poor post people.

That sounds more like a job for After Effects or Smoke. I obviously haven’t seen the shot but it is very unlikely that it can be fixed in FCP X.
Shots with a moving camera are always tricky when it comes to VFX… I guess you need a VFX guy/student to help you out.

With DPs that leave things to be fixed in post and students, to fix the things that the DPs didn’t made in prod I don’t think Jordan gonna go to far.
