I can confirm this. I thought I wasn’t doing something right, but I guess this really is a problem.

It’s really problematic since “output black video for sync” doesn’t work on the HD Plus (at least not for NTSC). We have two systems, one with an HD Plus and the other with an Extreme. Needless to say, it’s ridiculous that one method works on one but not the other, and vice-versa. The two of us have to go into the digibeta menu and switch between reference and video sync each time we need the deck.

    Hi Paul,

Sorry i havent had the chance to post lately – NAB prep is pretty crazy at the moment.

We did change the genlock in 4.8 as there was an issue with 4.7 and genlock with Extreme cards. We believe we fixed it but there is obviously a few folks having an issue with genlock judging by the posts on here.

I am getting the same blackburst model that Jeff Bernstein has this week and we can look at it then. Hopefully we can reproduce it and address it.

To be honest though, even if we reproduce it, we just won’t get a chance to do anything about until after NAB. All software and hardware engineering is locked down until after the show. My apologies, as normally we would jump all over it.

If you are going to the show be sure sure to drop by and say hi – There is quite a clan of us going this year and it would be nice to put some faces to names.

    Cheers,

    Regards,

    Matt

well, we had no problems in 4.7 so whatever you changed in 4.8 broke it (for us anyway). everything else in our facility is working fine and we’ve never had a sync problem with any of our decklink products ever. from your very frist card all the way up to the two decklink extremes we are currently running. I also don’t understand how this could only affect some users.

I’m not sure most Decklink Extreme users even use the reference input. So that would explain why only some users are reporting it.

yeah, but only you me and Jeff? I mean I hope it is across the board, as that should make it easier to fix, but if it is intermittent with only some users having the problem – well then we have along wait with no sync. NOT COOL ;-(
and I assume BlackMagic design has a sync generator in their test labs. but then again when digital voodoo came out with their first card, and we complained it wasn’t working they finally admitted they didn’t have an NTSC digibeta to test it with! they only had it working with PAL….

Hey, it’s possible. I’m not sure the typical environment that would have a house-sync would be using a standard-def Decklink. Who knows? We use the genlock just because we happen to have a blackburst and my HD Plus won’t work without it- so the digibeta needs to be in external reference mode.

I totally believe you and I know for a fact this didn’t happen to me prior to 4.8. Matt says they screwed around with it so it surely doesn’t take a rocket scientist to put the pieces together.

I’m having sync problems with my DLpro since 4.8 as well here. I’m sending SDI through an SDconnect box and it looses sync after 60-70 minutes. It didn’t do that with 4.7.
    Oh – I’m in PAL.

Count me in. I’m getting black signal dropouts on my HD Pro as soon as I connect to ext ref. I got my card a month ago and have never been able to connect to ext. sync for more than a few minutes without signal dropouts.
