    Hello, all…

Maybe this has been addressed somewhere, but none of my searches came up with anything.

“Back in the day” I used Sony Vegas and a very nice set of scripting plugins called Ultimate S from VASST to create photo slideshows. The Photo Montage feature of Ultimate S had an incredibly useful function that would allow you to take all the clips on a track and automatically trim them to fit inside a defined region (or the more traditional “fit to music”). Over the years, this has come in very handy, to say take 135 stills and make them fit into 39 seconds on the timeline for a stop motion effect, or to roughly place 15 clips into a certain space on the timeline.

Ultimate S had the additional functionality of automatically putting in transitions and pan/scan, but that’s on the “it would be nice” side. The biggest issue is “Take X number of clips and fit it into X seconds on the timeline”.

    Any thoughts, anyone?

    Thanks,
    Brandt

Import an image sequence. Then change the speed of the clip to fit the time you want.

    Hi Sean,

Thanks for your thoughts. While that’s a workaround that would definitely do for a slideshow (and one I will keep in mind!), I’m still hoping theres a way that someone out there knows to do this with more than just stills. Source could be stills, could be titles, could be clips. It’s more about taking x number of things and making them fit x number of minutes on the timeline (and preferably all joined with X transition)

    Some type of scripting, maybe?

    Thanks,
    Brandt
