Okay guys, this is my first stab at making a vehicle and texturing it; of course it’s probably not done the right way, and it’s lacking a lot — but it’s just my first try.

This is also my first stab at GI and HDR lighting.

Also, if anyone knows of any training sessions for C4D occuring within close vicinity of Kentucky, please let me know! Or if anyone is offering any “over the internet” training, shoot me an e-mail.

A car is a big undertaking I still havent even tried…
Looks really nice. You really captured a lot of detail. Did you model with polys or box modeling?
For objects like these it really helps to see a wire frame.
Then perhaps we can help you find a way to smooth out some of the sharp edges. (I like the iron tool for that sort of stuff.)
It looks like you have some phong issues with mirror.
You may want to look at your paint shader a little more as it does seems pretty flat. For example if you look at the hood in the top pic it should have some reflection and specular. Same with the windows.

As for education I know OD1 on c4dcafe has a dvd for making a low rider truck. There also a few free tutorials about hdr lighting there too if I remember right.

    Well done…

definitely nice for a first one, like Randy said reflection/environment for the paint and windows would help a lot, looking farther along you would have to give it some thickness to the roof and side pillars etc. Smooth a few bits but very nice start 🙂
