We’ve rented the HVX before and have decided to purchase one. In addition to the camera I’ll add 2 16GB P2s and an extra battery. Is there anything else that’s needed to begin? As we generate revenue we’ll add options that are helpful though non-essential. Thanks for any input!

You’ll need something to offload those P2 cards to in the field.

I recommend the P2 store. VERY handy.

If not that, then a laptop with PCMCIA slot and bus powered firewire drives.

But i like the P2 Store. Simple.

Thanks Shane. The P2 store looks great, but to curb costs we’ll have to go the laptop route for now.

I use my PowerBook G4 (with the PCMCIA slot) and a LaCie 500GB Quad Interface Firewire Drive. Works great through FW 800. And the LaCie costs only around $190 through MacConnection.com.

I also just got the HVX200. I have read about a utility that makes it easier to name clips and off-load to a PC laptop. Any ideas??
