First time Exporting Final Cut edit for negative cutting
I am editing a 16mm sync-sound film which was telecined to NTSC 23.98 fps in Final Cut Pro. I am trying to export it using a CMX 3600 EDL for negative cutting, but it is my first time so I have some questions…
-Is there a simple way to make sure all edits have at least 1 frame of handles on them? As well, I need to make sure no footage was repeated/duplicated, is there an easy way to do that also?
-I telecined my film in North America but am now trying to get the negative cut in Europe. They are asking for a PAL 25fps timecode, am I going to run into any sync problems if I just convert my NTSC file to PAL in Final cut?

1)”Show Duplicate Frames.” It’s a switch in sequence settings. It will color code any footage you’ve used more than once.
2) The only edit that wouldn’t have at least 1 frame handle is if you cut the very first or very last frame of a reel. It’s possible, but unlikely. That’s something you have to check by hand.
3) PAL?! That’s completely wrong. The film was shot at 24. If they started cutting negative with a 25fps list everything will be wrong. (if your cut needed to happen at exactly 01:00:01:00, they’d cut out 25 frames of film where they should only be cutting out 24. The further you go down the reel the larger the discrepancy).
