    Hi all,

I just finished a Total Training course that took me 20 hours. I feel pretty confident about digging in into the program but there is one important thing that wasn’t discussed.

I understand that AE is not an editing program and not to worry I’ve been editing in Vegas for a couple of years now.

So here is my question. Where does editing in Vegas and continuing the project into AE take place?

The line seems pretty thin on that subject. There are so many ways I could go on about with my latest project.

For example I could actually render all my video files and import them in AE or I could do the whole montage in Vegas. The way this project is going it could easily be edited entirely in AE.

So basically my question is which factor determines your workflow. When do you stop using one and jump to the other?

    Thanks guys.

Phil, for me it depends on what i am doing. If I am treating a video based project and adding elements, then I will edit in my editing app, then export a QT and bring that into AE. Remember, you can still chop footage back up in AE once it’s in a comp (ctrl-shift-D). If I am doing a heavy compositing job, then I will export each segment seperatly and bring them in . Depends on the job.
