Posted by Luis Caffesse on April 11, 2005 at 12:22 pmNot sure how trustworthy this is, but I figured people here would want to see it.

Just one more week of speculation.

April 11, 2005 at 3:12 pmThe conversion of the Euro dollars to US
3,000.00 EUR = 3,886.70 USD-United States Dollars
That’s around the price that I have heard from some sources. It makes sense though. It’s replaceing the DVX. What we paid for SD, we now get HD.

April 11, 2005 at 3:44 pmReading the info on that site, the way it’s worded it seems to me it’s pure speculation.
Nice thought, though! 😉
Given that the P2 palmcorder probably won’t ship for several months, I’ll be a little surprised if Panasonic changes their “under $10K USD” wording at NAB. Why should they? They might continue to adjust their pricing/thinking until closer to when the cam ships.
And a _lot_ will happen between now and when the P2 palmcorder ships. Other cams will have made it to market, currency exchange rates will change, and economic conditions will fluctuate.
Who knows what Panasonic will do — I sure don’t >grin< -- but I think there's more reason for them to wait a while on final pricing than hurry into it. In the meantime, we should probably stamp our feet on the floor shouting "We want P2 now, and we want it cheap!", or something like that. After all, we don't want them to think that $9,999.95 is a magic number! 😉 (But if they include several 8GB P2 cards for that price, well then ...) All the best, - Peter Just a friendly reminder to all: Please consider filling-in your COW user profile information so we have a better idea who you are, where you're from, and so forth. It's the friendly thing to do. Thanks!

The would put it in the ballpark of $5,500 UDS.
Sounds a bit more realistic to me.Luis Caffesse

April 11, 2005 at 5:52 pmMy currency converter was set for Euro not pounds. I made a purchase last week and did not switch it to Pounds. Thanks Luis!
