First Play not working on DVD recorders?????
I create DVD’s using Encore or DVD Studio Pro and any disc I burn when I go to check it in my Sony consumer settop DVD recorder, it ignores the programmed first play and instead plays whatever the first VOB file is in numerical order. Any other player (industrial and/or consumer)I have at my disposal recognizes the programmed first play.
Has anyone encountered this before? My supervisor thinks I am missing something in the programming but I don’t know what??????????????

Nope. Not encountered it before.
DVD Recorders are oddities. Many non-spec implementations of things to keep you locked into one brand.
To circumvent this particular issue, you could add a 5-second timeline with black video or a logo as a new first play, then link to your “old” first play (which I assume is a menu).
