June 17, 2006 at 10:38 pmhow much rendering at we taking about? I’m looking to purchase a quad G5 witha lot of ram….and the Kona 3… am i gonna be rendering one layer w/ color correction? how many layers can i go with the HDV codec?

every filter you apply to HDV requires rendering. If you’re going with a Kona 3, use it to capture all the footage to DVCPro HD and edit in that codec. I can easily apply color corrections and multiple filters to DVCPro HD footage and stay in realtime running on Fibre Channel drives.
