Firmware update for PDW-U1
For those of us waiting for the long-delayed firmware update for the PDW-U1, Sony posted something today. In their HD Creation and Workflow online expo, a technical support representative posted this in an online chat:
Joe Perecman, Technical Suppo: For Matthew Ranieti: The firmware for writng user data to the disc is available now on the PDW-700 anjd PDW-HD1500. The U1 support is coming this summer. The time is due to the complexity of the task.

Thanks for the update! I was just looking at the $2500 paperweight on my desk this morning, wondering how things are coming along over at Sony… 🙂

I thought that the naming allocation U1 was appropriate “Useless One” Waste of money. I about lost the ability to recommend equipment after that purchase. I’m hoping that the firmware comes soon, by the way NEVER take the sales reps word about function and updates
