Firewire not capturing external mic audio
I do some event videography in addition to my fulltime job and I occasionally use FCP7 to edit my work. A strange thing has happened on my last two shoots: I shot both events with the same Azden wireless mic and Sony HDV camcorder I use all of the time. FCP, however, could not capture the audio from the wireless mic. It only captured audio from the built-in mic. What is stranger is that when I play back the tape, with the capture window open but before actually capturing, I can hear the audio and see the VU meter move in the capture window. But it only records the mic with a lot of noise and at a very low level. I just shot a wedding on May 26 with the same configuration and had no problem. Also, I am able to capture the audio with no problem on two other PC-based NLEs that I also use. Any suggestions? Thanks.
