    Hi all,

I have a system in place at the moment which connects my mac to an AJA IO, via a firewire regenerating hub. This is due to the distance between the mac and the IO.

I am wondering whether it is possible to run another firewire hub in the chain (2 in total), to create a better cable run. Will there be any quality or connection issues?

    Thanks alot guys,

    Ben

[Ben Zemanek] “I am wondering whether it is possible to run another firewire hub in the chain (2 in total), to create a better cable run. Will there be any quality or connection issues? “

would not recommend that without testing completely.

The IoHD’s connectivity and control is based on the max length of the firewire protocol, so by extending that distance you are effectively changing the sync time between the unit and your CPU, which may or may not cause your workflow any problems.

I would not implement without a lot of testing.
