  Firewire failure on G4 desktop

  I have a dual-processor G4. I thought the firewire ports were dying because my external drives would occasionaly unmount–or not mount at all. So I installed a Belkin Firewire 400 PCI card but am having the same problems. I tested the ports with different devices and new cables–still no luck. What does this mean–could it be the logic board?
