I have sony vegas pro 8 and I want to use the firewire preview to have a full screen preview on my TV. I already have dual monitors. One for the timeline and one for everything else. When I run the firewire through my camera (sony hc52) and out to my TV with composite cables it works at first, but when I add effects, it gets laggy. Also the sound is always slightly out of sync. How do I get rid of the lag? Is my firewire port too slow? Its not a great firwire port. It came in my gateway desktop that i use to edit. I got it in 2004. I have 4gb of ram and a 3.0 ghz processor. Also, how do I get the sound in sync? I know about the slider thing with the frames but the more I move the slider, the more the video “flickers”. Please help. I need a preview on the TV so that people can watch while I edit. Also my computer has windows xp pro.

My camera won’t allow me to use the firewire as a preview through the camera to a TV. It there a device I can purchase that will convert the firewire output to HDMI to connect to an HDTV?

Check to see if your computer has an HDMI port on it.
If not, DVI-HDMI adapters are another option.
