When I try to copy files from an external firewire drive to my computer, my system freezes…..I’m using a Power Mac G4…nothing fancy….just running Pro Tools….without the ability to transfer files, I’m lost…..please help if you can…thanks!!

    Eddie,

Give us a hint at what FW drive(s) you’re using and how they’re hooked up to your G4. FYI I use a G4 Dual 800 to run ProTools 5 in OS9 all the time, with 3 FW LaCie drives hooked up through a LaCie FW 3 channel PCI card without any issues whatsoever. I can copy anything between all the drives no problem.

Just a wild guess: is your FW drive a new one and have you made sure it’s formatted in Mac OS Extended?
