Firestore problem
Any Firestore users out there? I have had great success using a Firestore FS100 to record DVCPRO-HD video from an HDX-900 and import it into Final Cut Pro. (We record to tape sumultaneously.)
Recently, when making a backup copy of the Firestore data before Log & Transfer to FCP, the process has failed. This has happened twice: With the FS100 and an external firewire drive connected to a Mac, the copying process fails at some point and both the FS100 and the external firewire drive get dismounted from the computer. I get this error message: “The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.”
It becomes a pain then to get the data into FCP. Has anyone here seen this? Any suggestions?

Ron,
I’ve seen weird things happen on a few occasions like this:
1. The destination drive isn’t formatted for Mac OS X Extended, but rather MS-DOS.
2. The destination drive is going bad.
3. Or, you have them plugged into the Mac via a chain…i.e. your Firestore plugged into your drive plugged into your Mac. In this case, if one drive’s ports went south it could take the other one with it.
