I have an client who has some MAJOR PROBLEMS with the footage we provided from a FireStore FS100/250 because of how the clips are only 2 minutes long (due to 2GB FAT32 limitation)
To the point where I ALMOST LOST THIS CLIENT….

He tells me that he can’t reference these clips to form one movie. He thinks somehow that only NTFS formatted drives works for AVID…. but I was told by Focus Enhancement that the FS100/250 can works with AVID.
So how do you do it? Or what are they doing wrong??

He also told me that AVID separates the sound from the pic and that was another night mare.

I promised to look into it and would appreciate any tips, tricks, pointers and white papers.

    Many thanks !

I think your problem is you are on a Mac Avid? you can only transfer to Fat32. Your client is on a PC Avid I guess. You’ll need to format the firestore Mac/PC or do your transfer on a PC Avid.
We have this problem with P2 Store formatted the wrong way. Your heart skips a beat when you plug in a whole shoot and it’s missing, plug into a Mac it’s all there…Good Luck

By the way do you have crews in South Carolina to shoot 1080i50 XDCAM or P2 Producer/Camera/Audio interviews and B-roll you would recommend…

    Paul,

I’m in SC now, but my crew recommendations would still be from Atlanta, where I was for 25 years. If this still works for you, let me know off list and get you the info.

    Thank Joe,
We are after good camera crews (Producer / Sound and camera), you’d be amazed we went through 3 crew on the West Coast all via booking houses, I could have done better on the home video, a tripod and colour balancing was apparently too much to ask for, stabilize got a workout, but we finely found a good one (bradley.stonesifer@gmail.com) in LA if you ever need one.

Most of our shoots are 1 to 2 days with a follow up day 2-3 weeks later usually b-roll. Current Affairs style. So flying crews around becomes expensive, that why we look for locals. I gather Atlanta would be a 3 to 4 hour drive away. Would the crews be ok with that?

I have been talking to Jim Suss (TheEditHaus) in Atlanta as well, we worked together on the Goodwill Games in Brisbane 2002 I don’t know if you know him. He was asking around as well.

We would like to shoot 1080i50, all the edit is in Australia.
