  Firestore FS-100 record problems

  Hi, I am having troubles with a used FS-100 that I recently bought off eBay. When connected to my XL-1 camera via the IEEE 1394 port, every time I try to go into record mode on the FS-100 (either by local, Slave Sync, or tapeless), the device attempts to start recording, then flashes a “Please Wait…” screen and goes back to stop mode. I’ve seen that other Canon XL-1a users have interfaced their cameras with the FS-100 successfully, and that makes me wonder if this FS-100 unit has a bad IEEE 1394 DV I/O port.

  I currently have firmware version 3 on the unit and have requested a copy of the V4 firmware from this forum’s users.

  Can anyone help shed some light on this topic?
