Something is definately bogus with how long FCP takes to render an imbedded Motion 3 projects,
    1. NTSC Broadcast format set in FCP6
    2. 7 sec. clip sent to Motion
    3. Two Titles and simple particle effect to reveal one of the titles.
    4. Motion set to NTSC Broadcast format
    5. Render takes 7 sec.
    6. Save project, switch to FCP6
    7. Render is FCP6 takes 20 mins for 5 sec clip.
    Whats up with that?

Tom – This is definitely a problem with FCS2. It was discussed in this thread:

    https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/8/940941?

The only solution seems to be to turn off “best” rendering in favor of “normal” rendering in preferences during editing, and then do an overnight render at “best” settings for output. This is a truly sucky workaround, because you can see all sorts of aliasing in “normal” rendering, but the “best” settings are insanely long to render. Don’t know how or why they screwed this up, but the only thing we can do is complain.

Thanks for the info Herb. I sent Apple the details of my experience at https://www.apple.com/feedback/, under the FCP6 category. I suggest everyone who feels this issue needs to be addressed, contact them as well.

changing these settings has no effect for me.

It still takes 12 minutes to render an 8-second .motn file
