Finishing for a Canon 5D Mk.II
I have a project coming up fairly soon in which a friend of mine intends to shoot his film using a Canon 5D Mk.II. From what I’ve read in other posts, it sounds like I’ll probably be biting the bullet and purchasing CineForm NeoScene to use intermediary files (at least, this is the best solution I’ve yet heard about regarding Vegas Pro 9).
But what I’m now concerned with is how the files should be rendered when I’m finished to ensure the highest possible quality. Here’s where it gets fun:
I am going to be finishing/outputting this film to Blu-ray and some form of digital file capable of playback on either PC or Mac. (I was guessing a DVD Architect setting for the former…no idea on the latter.)
My friend, however, also wants a file that he can then work into his Mac for output to a DVD and possibly another digital file (I’d guess almost certainly some sort of quicktime here. And as to why he doesn’t want me to do the dvd for him as well…I’ve no clue.)
Assistance with any of these render settings would be appreciated, especially regarding the specifics (i.e. if you recommend a constant bitrate, provide a range).
Finally, I would welcome solutions that utilize free or “stock” codecs as opposed to anything with a cost attached. Not that I wouldn’t file that information away for later use, but the budget is a bit tight right now.
