I am trying to create some fine whispy smoke that will blow across the main movie title from right lower to upper left of the screen.

I have been trying this using c4d V7.3 with poor results ie the
result is too “puffy” ….. too much like balls of smoke rather longer whispy strands.

I now have access to a PC with V8.5 but I am yet to familiarise myself with the extras features.

The effect I seek is not like the smoke from a cigarette (ie very streaky with high contrast ) but very delicate and subtle.

Can any one suggest the best way to tackle this in V8.5.

    Thanks

    Greg

If you like, you can download the file “SmokeTest” from my iDisk.
I presume not exactly what you’re looking for, but something to start with.
Please adjust the settings to your needs.

    Thanks for that Nolan,

It a good starting point for me.
This smoke looks very soft focus. Do you have any suggestions on how to make it look sharper?

In the Light-settings Visibility-Tab you might have to change
Distance/Relative Scale, maybe even Dust and Dithering to 0.
In the Noise-Tab try Wavy- or Hard-Turbulence, Octave maybe 2
and play with the other settings as well.

    Cheers
