    Hello Gang,

I think I already (saddly) know the answer to this but I was hoping against hope that there might be another way. I’m working with animating pen and ink drawings and I’ve run into the problem of the creepy-crawlies where the lines are too fine or close together when movement is applied. I’ve completely re-drawn my first scene and all that loss of deltail just about destroyed me – as Hemingway said, “Kill your darlings.”

So I’m wondering – is there any other way to deal with this problem that allows me to preserve the original detail of the drawings?

    Thanks in advance!

Try applying Fast Blur to them, maybe 1-3 pixels or so. Once it’s on a TV set this won’t degrade the sharpness as much as you might think, and it’s a commonly used tactic.

Thanks so much! I had tried gaussian blur and motion blur and niether one of them worked – but fast blur at 1.2 did work! This is a handy trick to keep in my tool box.

Last night I was experimenting with another way to move into my scene by using still frames and then slow cross dissolving to the next still scene that is scaled-up. This way I preserve the complete detail of the artwork and accomplish the feeling of moving closer.

Thanks again for a great tip!!
