OK. My suggestion, then, would be to make a tc window burn of all the footage, then send that out to a transcription facility and they will type it up for you and add timecode to the transcripts. The transcription facility will tell you the best method to send the files. FOr example the one we use uses wmvs for the window burn and mp3s for the audio.
Did you not get transcripts made when you started the film?

Unfortunatly they didn’t. It was filmed in Iraq for some MMA fighters and they had a small crew. AND, Unfortunatly, if I send it to a transcriber then I’m out of a job…..and that’s not good.

OK, so ‘all’ you have to do is line up all the dialogue in some timelines.
Put on a tc reader filter and get to work.

That is great, but my original question is, How do I do this? How do I put a timecode filter on? I don’t know how to do this and I need some help. Thanks.

Then it’s just like adding any other filter.
It’s located in Effects > VIdeo Filters > Video > Timecode Reader menu.

Wow, I had no idea. So I just import all the clips from the harddrive into the timeline and put the filter on it?

Import all the clips into a bin, sort the bin by Media Start (so they arrange themselves in chronological order), then drag to sequence, apply Timecode Reader filter to all clips and start transcribing.
I know you don’t want to be out of a job, Ben, but this sounds like an enormous amount of work. Depending on how long you have to deliver the transcripts, you might want to consider sending it out to a transcription service. They can tell you in advance how much it will cost. If it’s less than you’re getting paid, you might ship it out, pocket the difference and save yourself the bother.
