finding the right music
I am a bit curious how everyone out there does the sound fx and music for a finished mogo piece (I’m not talking about demo reels or montages) I’ve been learning motion graphics for about 2 years and I’m finally making some nice finished spots but when it comes time for the music and sound fx I really seem to struggle. Wondering if everyone else works this part out.

The music isn’t for you, it’s for potential clients. Make sure they don’t put their hands over their ears because then you won’t get a call. But don’t bore them to death either.

Sometimes it helps to start with the music first. Find something appropriate and interesting for the client (like Arie said) and go from there.

For some of my projects I purchase music at FlyingHands.com – a cheep royalty free music site. They have a lot of styles of BG music to choose from.
