    Hi. I’m wondering if it’s possible to write a script (JSX) that will find the first frame in my comp that isn’t blank. I’m not talking about a layer in-point, I mean the first frame where there is actually anything on the screen. I would like to set my work area to start at the first real frame of my comp if that’s possible. Thanks in advance!

    Your question is a bit confusing to me, but I’ll give you 2 answers;
    or try to rephrase the question.

    – If you’re the animator… start animating at frame 1 !

    – If you want to detect a scene change in a video source try “Magnum the edit detector” link

    Thanks for your reply, Jan. What I have is several comps of photos in 3d space. Their z-positions are set at random and then the camera zooms out from one photo to show all of them (hundreds). I have to render several comps and it takes a while, so it seems a waste to include empty frames where the photos haven’t even come into view yet. I will try the Magnum script though. Thanks for the help!
