find bin when duplicating clips
hey,
i originally captured all my source material into bins so that the number of the reel corresponds with the name of the bin(bin name: 1101,1102,etc.) now that i’m sorting all my material by subject i’ve made new bins with new names(bin name: man sits at table, man sits by tree)and sorted/copied the clips into these new bins. when i load a clip from these new bins and i use the find bin function from a clip in the timeline or viewer, it reveals the clip from the original bin that it was captured into(1101, 1102, etc.). does anyone know a way to tell fcp to find the clip from the bin i’m working from?

You’re saying you’ve added bins and duplicated your clips or are you saying you added bins and delted your original clips?
Delete the original bins and the clips they contain.
If you’re nervous about that, save your project with a new title and then delete the unnecessary bins. You can always return to the original project’s file structure if you need to and copy/paste across from one to the other.

you might try hitting “apple-F” as well. It locates the master clip.

thanks for the input. taking all of the original clips in the reel numbered bins out of the project seems to do the trick.
