Finalcut MOV into Vegas
Posted by Matthew Beall on January 14, 2010 at 6:36 pmI have two Finalcut XDCam EX Quicktime MOVs that I would like to use in Sony Vegas.. Will Vegas import the files correctly, or do I need to get a codec or something?

January 14, 2010 at 6:46 pmCalibratedSoftware has a EX MOV decoder for Windows.

The app must support Quicktime though (that’s what MOV is after all).
Read the page carefully and download the trial version. If this doesn’t work then you’d need to get the original BPAV (contains original MP4 files).
If the video was edited in Final Cut Pro, FCP can export EX MP4 and ClipBrowser can create a BPAV for it. -

January 18, 2010 at 8:16 pmYes, that might work and if you don’t have ProRes decoder on your Windows box, Apple makes the decoder freely available. Keep in mind that the NLE has to be aware of Quicktime Components though so I’d certainly test before committing to a massive encode (and at much larger file sizes).
