Thanks to CreativeCow.net, I was able to get my film pieces into FCP6 by transferring them to
    DVCPRO50.

My settings are for Compressor to be: DVCPRO50-NTSC

When I render that out, I get two files that I can then burn to DVD: The audio is (Dol Dig Pro 2.ac3)
and the video is (MPEG2 blah blah.m2v)

    So far so good…

Questions: I am submitting to a couple of film festivals. One festival says I need “DVCPRO-NTSC”

Is this what I just produced on a DVD disk?

Another Festival requires “DVD-NTSC-R1 2” America is Region 1, correct? Did I produce this, too,
is this basically the same thing?

If I upload to “Withoutabox.com” Would I be uploading the (.ac3) and the (.m2v) Anyone know anything
    about how to upload “DVCPRO-NTSC”

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

[Richard Chenoweth] “Questions: I am submitting to a couple of film festivals. One festival says I need “DVCPRO-NTSC””
Thats a plain DV NTSC 48Khz.

[Richard Chenoweth] “Another Festival requires “DVD-NTSC-R1 2″ America is Region 1, correct? Did I produce this, too,is this basically the same thing?”
    That’s the DVD you made.
In DVDSTP, set it to be played in Region 1.

Well, you get your DV file from FC. Upload it.
It will be heavier than the DVD files: 25Mbps.

    Thank you for responding, Rafael!

    I’m still a little confused. It’s a 22 minute movie.

    1) When I render using Compressor in DVCPRO50 compression, I get two files… .m2v and .ac3
It’s less than 1 GB but it’s two files which have to be burned.

    2) When I render in DVCPRO50 compression as a Quicktime movie, I get a 10 GB .mov file

    3) When I render in NONE compression, I got a 44 GB .mov file…

    4) Not sure how to get this movie as “DVCPRO-NTSC” and have it be in ONE file…

That’s what you get when you use DVD preset Richard… You did something wrong.

    Thanks, guys…

Yes, I used the DVD preset in Compressor set for DVD-Best Quality 90 minutes.
It takes the movie and makes it into .ac3 and .m2v.

There are settings in Compressor for making DVCPRO50 movies (.mov) but the
file size will be over 9 GB, which seems awful big for a 22 min movie.

Am I off track in Compressor somewhere?

When I burn the DVCPRO50>Compressor files (the .m2v and the .ac3) to a disk, it looks
    great on the TV set.

You need to learn the correct terms and workflows for video. Start by reading the FCP manual. Click on Help in the upper left. There are also a lot of other resources available

For a standard DV/DVCPro NTSC file, export a Self Contained QuickTime Movie from FCP. That is if you export from a DV sequence. If your sequence is DVCPro 50, then your file will be much larger and will be DVCPro 50. No need to convert any further.

If you want to create a DVD, bring that file into Compressor and select a DVD preset. You say your video is only 22 minutes. Select the appropriate setting. Personally I would use single pass with a bit rate of 6.5. That’s customizing the original setting. As you see, after compressor is done you will get an m2v and an ac3 file. We’re still not done. Just a couple more steps. Yes the manual explains this too. Open up DVD Studio Pro. Select a template or create a DVD menu. Import your m2v and ac3 file. Did I mention there also is a manual for DVD SP? It will tell you how to create a Video TS file to burn with Toast Titanium or how to build and burn a DVD disc.

Okay, good, this is what I did here. I was concerned how big the file was, as the Festival wanted this for the actual exhibition, not the screening. Dave recommended delivering on a flash drive.

Yes, this all worked out great. Again, wondered about the uploading of the two files; Festival guy said upload .mov or m4v for screening.

    Thanks again everyone!

[Richard Chenoweth] “Festival guy said upload .mov or m4v for screening.”

That would be a h.264 file (compressed movie).

There are presets in Compressor to do that.
