    Hello,

I have a client I’ll be working with to mix a voice over track. The track will have a male speaker with music under him. I will mix the music in relation to the VO by ear, and then mix those down into one single mix.

However, after that my client wants this suitable for posting to the Internet (YouTube and other video sharing sites) and wants me to mix the db level to some type of uniformed standard.

Is there an average or “excepted” db level for Internet video or for video vocals in general? So far, my research on-line has pulled up only one relating article that mentioned -8dBFS.

    What would you suggest?

I’m not aware of an accepted standard, and would appreciate the enlightenment if someone has authoritative info. Most of the discussions that I’ve seen seem to agree on shooting for average of about -12 to -6, with peaks at -.3db. That sounds pretty safe to me.
