Last week my computer dropped dead. So, I bought a new HD and the Apple Genius Bar reloaded Leopard. I put back all my programs and everything seemed to be back to normal till I opened a certain Final Cut File.

I have Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 and Compressor 3.0.5 I believe these are the furthest I can update with my Leopard 10.5.8.

Most of the compressed files are Pro Res 422. But, with this particular file it’s Pro Ress 422 (LT).

Final Cut is telling me that this (LT) codec can not be opened and I might not have that codec.

I tried recompressing the (LT) and Compressor tells me it doesn’t have this codec.

What do I have to do to get this codec to work? It worked before my computer died. So, it should work again.

    Thanks

LT is installed with FCP 7. You should be able to run 7 with Leopard just fine.

I have FCP 6.0.6 and according to what I’ve read Final Cut Pro 7 won’t work on a PowerPC.

Somehow I was using LT with my 6.0.6.

    Any other suggestions?

It turned out to be my Quick Time Player. I updated to the newest version I could, and now Pro Res 422 LT plays very nicely on my Final Cut 6.0.6. Weird is all I can say.
