Is it possible to store events and projects on an SD card and use Final Cut X? I’m asking because I have two 2TB drives already using other stuff and my time machine backup takes forever to process cause I’m constantly using media. I’m thinking if I could store the Final Cut X projects and events on one SD card and the files on another I could use Final Cut that way and it would save space and time on my time machine backup.

It should work, although, the speed of the SD card will matter. If you have a couple of cards try it out.

If you those files are important, make sure you have really good quality SD cards.
I did experience in the past sometimes issues with cheaper models, such as Transcend Cards.
