I will like some asitance from anyone

I just bought a MOTU V4-HD and tried to set a system that included:

    Mac Pro Quad 2.5 Mz

Final Cut Studio 5.1 HS retail version

I can not capture or get video in the Final Cut

I conected the Motu via Fire Wire to the Firewire 400 port

the G Drive in the Mac firewire 800 port

Firstly I would upgrade the FCP software. 5.1 is old and the drivers for the MOTU may not work with that version. I suggest you contact MOTU as the most likely scenario is your OS, system and version may not work with their interface and they should be able to advise you of minimum system requirements or point you to legacy drivers.

I have been interested in the MOTU interfaces but have never heard from anyone who uses one so I am interested in hearing what transpires.

MOTU is great with audio interfaces, but the video interfaces i’ve tested can’t be compared to Matrox, AJA or Decklink solutions.

Great specs doesn’t mean the drivers are good.

The first MOTU video interface i’ve tested with FCP had PAL/NTSC signals messed up.

You should upgrade to FCP7 at least to get it to work.
Then you should choose the proper EASY SETUP.
