[Jim Blokland] “do we have to go to 7.3 as well?”

    Yes, it appears you do.

    GAH GAH GAH!!!

720p DOES have drop frame support for 720p30 and 720p60 timelines. 29.97 and 59.94 are both supported as DF. HOWEVER, 720p24…23.98…IS NOT! Darn it! That is the setting we use, becase we need to deliver a 1080 23.98 master.

    Poop poop poop.

Now…where can I find those PLAYHEAD options? I have looked EVERYWHERE.

Well, the release does specifically mention 60 but I really don’t see why 23.98 would be left off. Maybe if you wait another three years you’ll get DF for 23.98.

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought there was no standard for drop frame for 23.98 fps.

Yes, Tony. 23.98 is always NDF.

You have to map them to a keycommand, or make them a button.

Hit option-j to being up the button list. Type in zoom in the search field.

You will then see a a list of options. You will find them in there.

I have remapped option-plus and option-minus to zoom in on playhead.

I worked for about an hour after the update. Didn’t have any problems except one. It told me that the autosave failed (I’m sure all of you have had this error at one point) . It’s probably because there were autosave files from the project already created with 6.0.1.

Gotta say, these new features are a pretty big deal. Honestly I’m a bit put off that they weren’t there from the beginning. Being able to hide the clip names on the sequence (so you can actually see the audio waveform) is one of those things that should have been there since FCP 1.0. The zoom in/out to playhead is a lifesaver. I can’t believe how much time I’ve spent in the past deselecting clips just so I could zoom to where I wanted.

Compressor’s deinterlace filter still doesn’t work.

As far as the OS 10.4.11 update, Safari 3 is pretty cool. Searching is done more like Firefox. QT 7.3 has a different look – no borders on the left and right sides of the video.

It doesn’t? What’ wrong with it? I just ran something through COmpressor yestreday for a deinterlace and it look great. I still think revision’s fields kit is top notch.

I hear that, but at least they are here now and we can move ahead.

Agreed. Plus if you accidentally quit Safari, it now asks before you quit which is nice. There have been plenty of times when I wanted to close a tab (Apple-w) and have hit apple-q instead. Woops, there goes my 28 tabs of discussions.

6.0.2 still has problems with QT media that has uneven frame rates…. but whatever. that’s why you keep 5.1.4 in your Apps folder 🙂

What codec was your source? I’m going to guess it wasn’t ProRes.
