This may not be applicable as I have yet to really use either of these 2 software packages.
Despite this, can anyone tell me if “Final Cut Server” is anything like “Razuna” on Ubuntu??

Lavi – you are funny. Your real question is “why should I spend $995 when I can download Ubuntu for free”.

Well, Ubuntu is a linix program, not a MAC OS-X program, and FCserver is easy to use, and does exactly what people want who are trying to manage large amounts of media and clips. There are other PAID programs that do what FC Server does on MAC, but these freebies are not what you want.

After all, why buy AVID, Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier to edit with, when you can probably write your own code, and develop your own editing program. And paint.net does everything Adobe Photoshop does – so why spend any money at all ?

    You are funny.

Indeed, but part of the Razuna interface that I think is the cats pajamas is it’s web interface. The whole thing is a tomcat+pearl application. It’s already built and it looks like it may do the trick. What I’m trying to avoid is having to rely on a single machine. With the Ubuntu server it’s possible to set up clustered servers…

By the way I liked your article on building a SAN, it’s an awesome way to move stuff around without having to deal with $$$ fiber channels.
