    Hi All

I am about to purchase a new G5 quad and I am shooting my next short film on the SONY HDW750P HDCam. my question is this:-

Can I perform a suitable offline edit by hiring a HDcam deck and capture directly into final cut pro 5/G5?

I would appreciate anyones thoughts on my workflow solution. I only need to do an offline edit

    many thanks

Sure, just purchase a Kona 3 system and you can capture to any resolution you want for the offline. I would suggest DVCPro HD as you get the small data rates, but you maintain a very high quality HD so you can better see what your footage really looks like.

You simply set up the Kona for a DVCPro HD Easy Setup (or whatever format you want to capture to) and start digitizing. The Kona will convert your HD-SDI signal to whatever you have chosen.

Are you shooting 1080 50i by chance?

If so I recommend you shoot in progressive at 24P or 25P depending on where you are located in the world.
