  • Final Cut refuses to render selection!!

Posted by Tim Allen on July 8, 2009 at 12:17 pm

I searched this forum and found similar issues, but nothing like mine. I understand that you have to have all the different un-rendered types checked in the drop down and all that, and I have done that. What happens is I select a clip to render, and it starts rendering… and rendering and rendering. And if I cancel the render I see that it has started rendering from the very beginning of my timeline! How can I force Final Cut to just render selection? I have had this issue in the past on and off, and it often just goes away. But I can’t afford to just wait and hope it starts working soon as I have work to do!

Thank in advance for the help fellas!

    Much love,

    – Tim

Do you have In and Out pints marked in the timeline? Did you try trashing your preferences?

    All the best,

Command-r will render selected. Option-r will render all.

ah yes… trashing the preferences. Man, I hate doing that!

And I always command-r, never option.

I’ll give the preferences thing a shot and see what happens. Lame.

Instead of trashing you prefs, check your prefs to make sure that you have auto render turned off.

Tim you don’t have to hate trashing preferences any more.

download the free “preferences manager” it will
trash and restore in 2 clicks.
