    Hi,

I’ve been desperately trying to restore at least some data (for memory) of a concert I filmed for a friend but lost the original source files. I digged through the final cut pro project files I had created and found the thumbnail cache folder – the files in there seem big enough to contain image data, but it doesn’t include a file name.

Does anyone know what type of file those are (.bmp, .pict, f.E.)?

It would mean a lot to me if someone can help me!

    Best
    Dominic

Sorry to disappoint you, but the thumbnail cache does not hold any physical media. Thumbnails are just references to the original media frames. Without the original media you will see no thumbnails.

When you open a thumbnail cache folder you will notice that one thumbnail file contains references to 1023 frames, while it is only 33 KB. So you can imagine these files do not contain any actual media.
