How do I open up a Final Cut Pro project in Final Cut Express? The video format (HDV 1080i50) should be supported by both but the Express will not import or open the project or the XML files.

    Any ideas please? Thank you.

FCE to FCP is a one way street. FCP to FCE is the wrong way. You are trying to drive the wrong way on a one way street.

Even if you could get the XML to open FCE will not be able to use HDV video captured in FCP unless it was captured in the Apple Intermediate Codec. FCE cannot use native HDV it will ONLY read Apple Intermediate.
