Final Cut Pro to Digibeta Timecode Issues (probably operator failure)
Hello,
I apologise if this question is asked frequently… but I can’t seem to find what I’m looking for here (variations, but I could be missing it…). Basically, I’m on a steep learning curve at the moment – the guy I usually rely on to deal with my technical stuff is away so I’m stuck with this myself.
I have a digibeta deck connected to my Mac G5 via an RS-422 connection and SDI inputs and outputs. I can capture into Final Cut, I can record back to the digi from Final Cut… The one thing I cannot do though is play out timecode from FCP. Is this possible? I need my programme to begin at 10:00:00:00 and I just can’t work out how to do it.
Can anyone help?

FCP does not output timecode. The deck generates its own timecode. Start by blacking the beginning of the tape by presetting the timecode to regen begin at 58:00:00. Use the first two minutes for bars abd tone and slate and countdown and whatever and then edit your program onto the tape beginning at 1:00:00:00.

I have a similar question about Final Cut Pro. If I do pre-black, pre-timecode the beginning of a BetaSP tape, will FCP accurately layback the timeline in assemble mode on the beta deck? I need to have my program start exactly at 1:00:00:00 for TV stations.
Also, it it possible to have FCP do an accurate insert edit into an existing BetaSP tape?
