Do I need an AJA or BlackMagic card, or are there other output options for a P2/DVCProHD workflow?

I need a reasonably priced solution for outputting DVCProHD (720-24PN) from Final Cut Pro to the Panasonic BT LH1700WP LCD Monitor (and other SDI/DVI/Component capable plasmas).

So far, I am happy with the P2 workflow and do not need uncompressed input capabilities – mainly just good additional monitoring options in addition to using an Apple 23″ Cinema display. (I understand the 17″ Panasonic may not be ideal for critical color correction, but it appears to be reasonably accurate and will probably work for my purposes).

Are there other interfaces/options available that could fit this monitoring-only requirement or is AJA/BlackMagic the best way to go? (Connecting one of the above monitors via the second Apple DVI connector is not a viable HD solution, correct?)

If I do need an AJA or BlackMagic solution, could one of their earlier products fit my requirements for the set up below (e.g. PCI compatibility)? Any preferences/recommendations?

Thanks so much for any input.

you should use a monitor through a card to view your footage–it is accurate and it does not sap computer resources. the kona will do that AND accelerate your DVCPRO HD for more layers of RT. i use the 1700 and it blows away anything i have seen nears its price. it is not native 1080, but works well enough for that and the 720 is excellent. the 32″ panasonic is supposed to be out of this league for blacks, but i have not seen it other than tradeshows where it stood up well under less than ideal editing light.
