Final Cut Pro on Mac Mini
I just recently added Final Cut Pro onto my Mac Mini and I am currently trying to capture footage. The footage that I tried capturing would be choppy, slow, and jumpy and sometimes would say “dropped frames,” but when I used iMovie HD to capture the same footaged, it worked perfectly. Do you guys think that my Mac Mini can’t support Final Cut Pro 5?

Are you using an external media drive or the internal? You can’t capture to the internal drive.

Is the eternal drive USB or Firewire, NEVER use USB for video editing.

It is actually set up in a wireless external drive in my network. So what I need is to use an external hard drive that uses firewire?

Re. USB drives – I have to report that I’ve had no problems editing some pretty big and complex projects on my Mac Mini using only USB-2 drives.
I had problems originally trying to capture from a FW source (camcorder) to a FW drive, probably because there’s only one FW socket on the mini so you have to daisy-chain the devices. All the data has to come down and go up the same wire, not good.
So long as it’s a decent drive, USB-2 is perfectly usable for video.
