I’m leaving for vacation tomorrow and just reinstalled Snow Leopard on my MacBook (at Apple Care’s suggestion). My video cam wasn’t working properly. Now it is.

But now I can’t get Final Cut to start. It starts to open and then quits unexpectedly. I tried to go into Time Machine before the reinstall and that didn’t fix.

I can reinstall FCP completely from the discs — but trying to save myself an hour drive BACK to my office to get them. Is there a simpler fix?

    Thought it couldn’t hurt asking!

Did you try trashing the preferences? That’s always my first step.

FCP installs things into the OS that would be gone after reinstalling the OS.

Download FCP remover and then remove FCS and reinstall it.

Damn, I wish I was in France vacation mode!
Digital Rebellion’s Preference Manager will take care of it pretty easily for you.

I would also recommend having a portable drive handy with disc images (.DMG files) of your FCP install discs. Installs FCP in like 40 minutes and you have a backup of your install discs!

But I’m going to guess that Zane is right, and you’ll need to uninstall/reinstall. Rebellion also has a tool that will do an uninstall for you.
