    Hi all,

my first post so be gentle. I recently upgraded to FCP studio from 4.0. I’m running 1.8 dual 5 meg Ram, 256mb 9800 GFX card G5.

Problem is I work in Tv and have a lot of large 30 second quicktime clips ( about 800mb-1gig each). When I try to import into FCP (they are on my Mac HD and copies on my Lacie 250 GB drives (firewire 800)),it crashes.

I’ve tried importing from both. they will play in the viewer window but in the recorder..it just shuts up shop, shuts down and crashes sending a report to apple this is driving me mad. No matter what I do it just keeps happening…I have upgraded FCP and my mac recently ( more RAM , new gfx card etc). Any ideas anyone??

    Ta in advance

What SIZE/FORMAT are the images on the QT files?
You should pre-set and create a new blank FCP timeline for the kind of edit and output you need (I’m guessing DV NTSC).

Then, edit the imported QT movie to that timeline

    BUT…

Before you attempt to “play” the clip on the timeline, RENDER it.
