  • Final Cut Pro footage unable to display images on Premiere Pro

    Hi,

I am running Premier Pro 2 on a PC and have been given hours of footage to trawl through by a client to find some suitable pieces. However – the footage has been cut using Final Cut Pro with a Mac, and I can’t see any video using the .mov files that I have recieved. I either get black or white screen with audio.

Is there a specific reason for this, or a piece of software that can help re-encode the footage?

    many thanks.

Sounds like you are missing the necessary codec for the QuickTime files. Inspect the file properties (using QT Player) and see what codec is needed; most you can download from the appropriate vendor.

I’m having the same issue, its the codecs from Apple. Unless it’s DV it will captured in the Apple Intermediate. Sorry there is no way to convert I know of on a PC. It has to be done from a Mac with FCP using Media Manager to convert to Say Animation codec or JPEG2000 to keep quality, sizes jump heaps. HDV is probably the worst size wise because FCP doesn’t work in muxed MPEG like PC does.

How many editors does it take to change a light bulb?

Final cut uses mac specific quicktime codecs. These have to be changed. FCP sucks basically, and is way overrated. Try roundtriping into after effects from final cut pro. Not an option.
