I have recently entered the exciting world of HD footage and have encountered a minor issue that I thought people here might have an idea about.

When used SD, I used to edit a type of video which involved “role plays” and “discussions”, which I would delineate the difference between the two by deinterlacing the “role plays” to give them more of a film look.

Now I’m working in progressive HD, I’m not sure where to go. I could certainly go with some differences in the colour grade but I wondered if anyone else had any clever ideas to make a suble change between two “looks”.

    Hope that makes sense.

    Cheers
    Chris

A little glow can add to a “filmic” look. In Color there are 90 presets you can download from Apple’s website and some can give you a “film” type of look.

You just need to differentiate it with some sort of a grading change to make the elements stand out. Maybe a little less saturation, a little more contrast, a hint of glow, etc….
